Introduction
This site documents my path toward running my own infrastructure. Self-hosting, networking, Linux servers, virtualization, containers, backups, and DIY projects when the situation calls for it.
I'm not an expert. I prefer owning my tools and infrastructure where I can, for the control and self-reliance it provides. What you'll find here are notes from that process: configurations that worked, problems I ran into, and how I solved them. Sometimes the solution was elegant. Sometimes it involved a soldering iron and questionable decisions.
The goal is to share the journey. Maybe contribute something that others find useful or interesting.
A recurring theme is modifying hardware and improving on it. Whether using custom software, lowering temperatures or adding functionality. In truth, many modifications don't save money. They sometimes cost more, take longer, and deliver modest results compared to stock. But the process teaches you things you wouldn't learn otherwise. And not least of all, it's rewarding and fun!
You will also find the occasional off-topic post when something interests me enough to document it.
